General Information
Applicants seeking admission to the Associate Degree Nursing program or Practical Nursing program offered by Sampson Community College are required to complete the ATI TEAS Version 7 (Test of Essential Academic Skills) and achieve a score of proficient, advanced or exemplary in order to be eligible to apply to the nursing programs.
The ATI TEAS Version 7 is a standardized test designed specifically to assess a student’s preparedness for entering the health science fields. Questions are designed to test the basic academic skills you will need to perform successfully in the areas of: Reading, Math, Science, and English and Language Usage. The ATI TEAS is comprised of 170 total questions, with 209 minutes in allocated testing time. Testing Policies
– The ATI TEAS must be completed within three years of the candidates application date.
– Two retakes per calendar year are permitted, regardless of the testing site. When retesting, applicants must retest on all sections of the exam. Scores from more than one test will not be split, mixed or combined.
– When retesting for higher scores, the most recent score will be used.
– SCC will now allow remote proctored testing scores to be used.
When To Test
– Testing will begin in the fall semester and will end January 31st of each academic year. Students seeking admission into one of the nursing programs will need to complete the admission prerequisites courses and requirements by January 31st of the year in which entry is desired. The college reserves the right to extend testing after January 31st.
– Be sure you have met or are on track to meet the English, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics pre-requisite requirements for your program of interest. Visit the Nursing Admissions webpage for specific requirements
Exam Costs
Exam costs are determined by ATI and are paid directly to ATI, not SCC. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Prices are subject to change without notice.
– In-Person Exam with SCC Proctor is $87
– Online Exam with ATI Remote Proctor is $120

Register
Be sure to read the following details before registering for the ATI TEAS. There are 2 options to take the ATI TEAS exam.
– TEAS Online Proctored by ATI is taken online at a remote location such as your home. ATI proctors this exam using Respondus. You can test anytime between now and January 14, 2025. The cost is $120.
– In-Person Proctored by an Institution is taken in-person on our campus and proctored by Sampson Community College staff. The cost is $87.00
– TEAS exam registrations are non-refundable and cannot be changed or rescheduled. Prior to purchase, make sure you have the correct date, time and location for the TEAS exam.
To register for the TEAS Online Proctored by ATI, follow the steps below:
1. If you already have an ATI student account, go to the next step. If you don’t have an ATI student account, visit www.atitesting.com and create one in order to purchase the exam. ATI student accounts are FREE.
2. Visit https://www.atitesting.com/teas/register and select the Register button for TEAS Online Proctored by ATI.
3. Next, select the ATI Remote Proctor-Nursing option under TEAS Proctor – Program Type.
4. Select the test date and time that works best in your schedule and click Select.
5. Carefully read the registration details page before continuing registration and completing payment.
6. After payment, you will receive an email confirmation from ATI as well as important test information such as system requirements and your assessment ID. Please keep this email handy on test day in case you must manually enter your assessment ID.
To register for the In-Person Proctored by SCC, follow the steps below:
1. If you already have an ATI student account, go to the next step. If you don’t have an ATI student account, visit www.atitesting.com and create one in order to purchase the exam. ATI student accounts are FREE.
2. Visit https://www.atitesting.com/teas/register and select the Register button for In-Person Proctored by an Institution.
3. Next, select the TEAS for Nursing Students option under Program Type and search for Sampson CC Testing Center.
4. Select the test date that works best in your schedule and click Select.
5. Carefully read the registration details page before continuing registration and completing payment.
6. After payment, you will receive an email confirmation from ATI.
Prepare for the ATI TEAS
ATI, the official provider of prep for the exam, recommends that you allow yourself at least six weeks to prepare for the exam. There are a variety of prep resources available to help you study for the test – all aligned to the ATI TEAS and packed with thousands of practice questions based on the content and format of the actual exam. What To Expect On Test Day
– Plan on 4 hours maximum to complete your TEAS exam.
– A four-function calculator (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) is built into the TEAS exam, however; the proctor will also provide a four-function calculator if you are taking the exam in-person.
– You will need to have a physical copy of your government-issued ID (e.g., a current and valid U.S. Passport, Driver’s License, or State ID Card) present and available at the time of testing (including remote and in-person testing). Please note: a credit card photo, temporary license, or student ID do not meet these criteria
– All personal belongings must be stored out of reach. This includes electronics devices, coats, jackets, wallets, purses, bags, hats and sunglasses, with discretionary allowances for religious apparel. Students are not allowed to have any other personal materials at their testing station. Lockers with padlocks are available near the testing center to store personal items.
– If you are taking the exam in-person, pencils and scratch paper will be provided by the testing proctor. All scratch paper will be collected and destroyed after testing.-
No personal electronic devices of any kind are allowed during testing. This includes, but is not limited to cell phones, smart watches, smart eyewear, and personal calculators.
– Food and drink, unless predetermined as medically necessary, are not allowed in the testing room.
– If you are taking the exam in-person, ear plugs will be provided by the proctor before testing begins.
– Once you have finished your exam, you are free to leave the testing room.
Obtaining Your Exam Results
Post-completion of your TEAS exam, your test results will be made available to you online through your free ATI account Printing is available to SCC students in the Learning Resource Center located in Kitchin Hall.
1. Log into your ATI Account at atitesing.com
2. Under Main Menu, select the “My Result” tab at the top of your account
3. Click on the name of the test you wish to print
4. Click “Download Report”
5. Print the PDF report

1. Congratulations! Download your exam results, a free service provided through ATI. Visit the ATI “How to Print my ATI TEAS Results” for instructions or use ATI’s LiveChat option for assistance.
2. Complete the Nursing Program Application. Be sure to attach your ATI exam report.
If you did not score proficient, advanced, or exemplary:
1. Two retakes per calendar year are permitted. This is true regardless of the testing site and verified by the submission of the ATI exam report. The most recent score will be used.
2. Applicants must retest on all sections of the test when retesting.
3. If you choose to retest, you must register and pay for another exam.
