Foundation Scholarships

Each year, the SCC Foundation helps to change student lives. For the 2024-2025 academic year, over $200,000 was awarded through 100 different scholarships to more than 100 deserving students.

These scholarships help local students, many of whom do not qualify for federal student aid. This money allows students to pay for tuition and books—which in many cases means not having to work two jobs, having extra money for child care, or being able to finish their degree sooner.

1 application makes students eligible for over 100 different scholarships! Application must be completed yearly. Application deadline is April 15 every year.

The total scholarship amount will be split between the Fall & Spring semesters.

Summer semesters are not eligible for scholarship aid.

If your Financial Aid account balance is negative (ex: -200.00) then your scholarship award has covered your tuition. You will receive a refund check after the 30% mark of each semester with the remaining un-used monies. Checks will be mailed to your current mailing address on file at the college.

If your account balance is positive ($200.00) then you owe that amount to the Finance Office. You can pay online or in-person.

Due to processing and selection, scholarship award letters will be sent out during the Summer semester before the new academic year begins. Letters will be mailed to your current mailing address on file at the college.

Log-in to My Apps through sampsoncc.edu. Begin by selecting “Login” on the SCC homepage. Enter your information, then select the SCC Self-Service icon. Finally, select Financial Aid. You will be able to see your account balance for the upcoming semester.

The Foundation General Scholarship application is made available in September of each year. Only one single application is required to be considered for all the Foundation scholarships. Application deadline is April 15 of each year.

Students planning to attend SCC in the Fall after high school graduation should complete the online application during their senior year in high school. Contact your high school guidance counselor for more information.

Current students should complete the Foundation General Scholarship Application annually, for each academic year they plan on attending, in addition to completing the FAFSA.

The Foundation General Scholarship Application makes you eligible for 100+ scholarships. You will be required to submit a high-school transcript, 1500-character (~250 word) essay, and other information specified in the application. Please send/or mail all needed documentation to the addressees listed in the application.

Certain scholarships do require additional information such as: list of extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, etc. See below for the scholarships that require additional submissions. Please send/or mail all needed documentation to the addressees listed.

If awarded, scholars are required to write a personal thank-you note to their donor family or organization before the Fall semester begins. In your scholarship award letter, the name and address of your donor will be listed under “Primary Contact.” Please send your letter of appreciation to them.

Once you have mailed your letter to your donor family or organization, please notify the Foundation Office at advancement@sampsoncc.edu. We will then release the funds to your student account.

If you receive an invitation or email concerning scholarship events, RSVP means to reply back and let us know you’re coming! Please send all RSVPs to advancement@sampsoncc.edu.

Scholars are expected to attend the annual Scholar-Donor Picnic held in September of every year.
