Overview
The Heavy Equipment Operator Program is a one semester training program that prepares students with basic knowledge on heavy equipment identification, safety, basic field surveying and a variety of other topics needed in the construction field.
Heavy equipment operators run heavy machinery, install underground piping, develop land for home and industrial construction, build roadways and bridges across the United States. These careers require highly skilled employees who have a high work ethic, enjoy working outside and like working in a team environment where safety is the number one priority.
Registered students will also be partnered with a local contractor to serve in a internship while participating in the program. This will give a student real-life work experience in the field while they learn from heavy equipment experts. In addition, students will receive additional certifications related to erosion control, flagging and drone operation. A student will also have the opportunity to take part in the Sampson Community College Truck Driver Training program once they complete the Heavy Equipment Operator’s program.
