He then saw the opening in the maintenance department. He decided to apply for the job and now has worked at SCC for over a year.
When asked about what he loves about his job, Rutherford exclaimed, “I love fixing stuff, I have always loved fixing things. I am a hands-on guy.”

He brings a wealth of experience from his previous work in the upper Midwest and Washington State,” commented Dr. William Starling, Sampson Community College President. “He is an accomplished baker who brings cookies, cakes, and more to the office, and his good nature and baking prowess make him a favorite committee member. One of the benefits of working at a community college is the opportunity to work with talented and dedicated people. Ryan is one of those people, and SCC is a better place because he’s chosen to work here.”
