Sampson Community College has once again had the pleasure of welcoming a new staff member into its family! Jamie Cannady, a Career and Academic Advisor here at Sampson Community College (SCC) recently started at SCC at the end of August in the College & Career Promise department (CCP).
However, she also sees herself as a special projects manager.
“I am currently crafting nine to fourteen degree and career pathways for our CTE programs here at SCC,” Cannady explained.
When asked to share a fun fact about herself, Cannady enthusiastically stated that she is a huge lover of the arts.
“My bachelor’s degree is in Dance, and I’ve been a musical theater fan for as long as I can remember,” she expressed. When she’s not advising students face-to-face, she likes to spend most of her workday listening to musical cast recordings in the background.
For Cannady, the wonderful welcome she has received since joining SCC has been a great sign.
She remarked, “Everyone who I’ve met thus far has been very helpful and I look forward to continuing to form connections across the campus!”
Emily Brown, Lead Career Coach at SCC, says that Jamie’s liveliness and work ethnic gives a unique energy to the advising team.
“Jamie has been a breath of fresh air. She brings excitement to work that spurs us all to be better,” Brown shared. “She is enthusiastic to take on projects and has the skill to see it through. We are all lucky to have her.”
