Overview

Sampson Community College Information Technology Academy’s goal is to educate & train students from the basics to advanced systems within a 12-month cycle.

The complete program consists of Windows OS Fundamentals, Network Fundamentals, Palo Alto Networks, Security Fundamentals, & VMware Vsphere 6.5 Foundations Install, Configure, Manage.

The Night Time Academy provides affordable education; the courses will be administered online & face-to-face.

Note: Students enrolling in either Palo Alto or any of the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) will be required to complete Windows Operating Systems & Network Fundamentals or have fundamental knowledge of Windows Operating Systems & Networking. Cisco courses must be taken in consecutive order.

Courses offered by the IT Night Academy

This course introduces the architecture, structure, functions, components, & models of the Internet and computer networks.

Topics include introduction to the principles of IP addressing and fundamentals of Ethernet concepts, media, and operations. At the end of this course students should be able to implement IP addressing schemes.

This is the first course of a two-course set that prepares students to take the Cisco 100-105 ICND1 exam to gain the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification.

Cost of Course: $185.00

This course covers the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a small network.

Students learn how to configure a router and switch for basic functionality.

This is the second course of a two course set that prepares students to take the Cisco 100-105 ICND1 exam to gain the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) certification.

Cost of Course: $185.00

This course covers the architecture, components, & operations of routers and switches in larger and more complex networks.

Students learn how to configure routers and switches for advanced functionality.

Students taking this course should have completed Cisco 1 & 2 courses offered at SCC or another Cisco Academy.

This is the first course of a two-course set that prepares students to take the Cisco 200-205 ICND2 exam to gain the Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (NNCA R&S) certification.

This course covers the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in a small network.

Cost of Course: $185.00

This course discusses the WAN technologies and network services by converged applications in a complex network.

The course enables students to understand the selection criteria of network devices and WAN technologies to meet network requirements.

Students taking this course should have completed the Cisco 1, 2, & 3 courses offered at SCC or another Cisco Academy.

This is the second course of a two-course set that prepares students to take the Cisco 200-205 ICND2 exam to gain the Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching (CCNA R&S) certification.

This course will enhance the students’ understanding of how to configure and manage Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls.

The student will learn and get hands-on experience configuring, managing, and monitoring a firewall in a lab environment.

This course prepares students to take the Palo Alto Networks Accredited Configuration Engineer (ACE) exam-PAN-OS 8.1 version. Upon successful completion of this exam students will be presented with the Certificate of Accreditation for Palo Alto ACE-PAN-OS 8.1 version.

This course provides a foundation of knowledge in both Windows 10 as well as computer networking.

The first half of the course students will be introduced to the fundamental concepts of the Windows 10 Operating System, including installing & upgrading client systems, managing files and folders, and maintenance of operating systems. The second half introduces students to network concepts, including networking terminology, media and protocols.

This course prepares students to take the Microsoft 98-349 & 98-366 exams. Upon successful completion of these exams students will be presented with Certifications for both Microsoft 98-349 & Microsoft 98-366.
