Overview
The purpose of the ACE program is to assist students with learning/intellectual disabilities in the areas of reading, writing, math, and vocational skills. The main goals of this program are for each student to make an effortless transition into an additional post-secondary education option or employment.
The ACE Program lessons are presented to the students in simplified and modified hands-on designs to help maximize growth and learning potential.
The program offers applications in reading, writing, math and vocational skills. The ACE program runs year-round and does not dismiss for Summer break. All ACE Program classes are free of charge.
The ACE Program offers:
- Small Class Sizes
- Hands-On Learning Environment
- Direct Contact with Vocational Resources such as JCI and Vocational Rehabilitation
- Vocational Training through Project Discovery
- Safe Environment to practice Reading, Writing, Math, and Vocational Skills
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must complete an application and interview with the Lead Instructor
- Must take a placement test independently
How to apply
Applications are accepted all year long. Acceptance to class is based upon space availability and eligibility. To apply for admission into the ACE program, please contact the ACE Lead Instructor, Allie Turner.
Viking Perk Coffee Shop
The Viking Perk Coffee Shop is a campus initiative aimed at preparing ACE students for jobs in the community. Through hands-on experience, participants develop vital skills in customer service, food preparation, teamwork, and more. This practical training equips them for future careers in the community while creating a welcoming space on campus for everyone to enjoy quality coffee and snacks.
