[CLINTON, N.C.] – Sampson Community College (SCC) is pleased to announce the commencement of construction on a 12,000-square-foot addition to the Activity Center, scheduled to begin this week. This expansion will provide much-needed space for academic classes, student activities, and college events, enhancing the college’s ability to support its growing community.
SCC expresses its sincere gratitude for the essential funding that has made this project possible. Federal assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s Community Facilities Grant, paired with state support from the NC Connect Bond, has provided the critical resources to bring this expansion to life.
To facilitate construction, portions of the loop road on East Campus, as well as select parking spaces behind the Activity Center, will be temporarily closed. Access to remaining parking in this area will continue via the Airport Road entrance. Parking for faculty and staff in the North Parking Lot and adjacent to the Technology Building will remain unaffected, as will designated parking for Cosmetology patrons until 2:00 PM on academic days.
Daniels & Daniels Construction is anticipated to install fencing on November 5, 2024. The project team is anticipating having the Activity Center ready to serve students for the Fall 2025 semester.
