In November 2023, The David Edward Bryant, Jr. Memorial Trucking Scholarship was established by Mrs. Iris Bryant at Sampson Community College (SCC) in memory of her late husband, David Edward Bryant, Jr.
The purpose of this SCC Foundation scholarship to assist deserving students enrolled in the Truck Driver Training Program at the College. Passing away in April 2023, Mr. Bryant had a longtime career within the transportation industry, running his own business: D.E. Bryant Contractors.
Speaking on behalf of the College, Lisa Turlington, Dean of Advancement & Executive Director of the Foundation, expressed, “The SCC Foundation is honored that Mrs. Bryant chose to honor her late husband’s memory by supporting students training for careers in the transportation industry.”
Sampson CC is grateful to Mrs. Bryant for her dedication to student success in honor of her late husband, and looks forward to seeing the impact the award will have on the educational journeys of Truck Driving students.
