General Job Description

Job Summary:

Sampson Community College is seeking a Physical Education Instructor to join our faculty. This position involves teaching a variety of transferable health and physical education (PE) courses designed to meet the general education needs of our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to student success, innovation in teaching, and the ability to foster an engaging learning environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach transferable courses in both health and physical education, including but not limited to health, wellness, fitness, and physical activity courses.
  • Develop and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction in both traditional and online formats.
  • Stay current with developments in the fields of Health and Physical Education and integrate best practices into course content.
  • Participate in department meetings, curriculum development, and college-wide initiatives.
  • Provide academic advising and support to students.
  • Duties may occasionally call for evening availability.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Health and Physical Education, Exercise Science, or a related field from an accredited institution, with a greater portion of the degree focused on physical activities.
  • Experience teaching at the college level (community college experience preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a student-centered approach.
  • Ability to teach in both face-to-face and online learning environments.
