Duties & Responsibilities

Sampson Community College is a leading provider of vocational training in construction and heavy equipment operators. We are committed to equipping our students with the practical skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field. As we expand our offerings, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator Instructor to join our team for weekend classes.

  • Instruct students in the safe and effective operation of various heavy equipment, including but not limited to mini excavators, bulldozer, loaders and backhoes.
  • Deliver hands-on training sessions, ensuring students gain practical experience.
  • Provide classroom instruction on safety protocols, equipment maintenance, and operational techniques.
  • Evaluate student performance through practical assessments and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining materials to reflect current industry standards and best practices.

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or industrial setting.
  • Previous teaching or training experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience in teaching real estate courses with proven passing rates on the North Carolina Real Estate Exam.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment safety procedures and industry regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to students of varying skill levels.
  • Patience, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Certification in heavy equipment operation or instruction are a plus
