Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Duties & Responsibilities

Sampson Community College (SCC) is seeking an Assistant Director of Financial Aid to join our staff. This position plays a critical role in the Financial Aid Office by assisting in the administration of financial aid programs, providing exceptional service to students and families, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. This position reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid and collaborates with other departments to enhance the financial aid process.

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and management of financial aid programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and ensure efficient operations and effective service delivery.
  • Advise students and families on financial aid options, including scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study programs.
  • Conduct financial aid presentations and workshops, along with the Director of Financial Aid, for prospective and current students.
  • Review and analyze financial aid applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Admissions, Registrar, and Student Services) to streamline processes and improve student experiences.
  • Assist in the development of financial aid marketing materials and communications.
  • Oversee the financial aid awarding process and participate in the reconciliation of federal and state funds.
  • Address and resolve student inquiries and concerns related to financial aid.
  • Provide assistance and support during registrations, orientations and graduation ceremonies.
  • Duties may occasionally require evening availability.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, education, or a related field.
  • Experience in financial aid or related areas, preferably in higher education.
  • Knowledge of enrollment management principles.
